Exhibition ▸ Trailblazers
While working in-house at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (the MAH), I worked on graphics for Trailblazers: The Creative Story Behind Mountain Biking in Santa Cruz. A show about the history of, and artistry behind, mountain bikes. This collaborative show brought together athletes, industrial designers, and artists. Many of whom, wear all those hats!
The graphics for this project were inspired by the natural world because it is the backdrop for the sport. I wanted the colors to be vibrant and alive to match the fast paced, adrenaline filled world of mountain biking. The colors also served as a way to visually organize sections of the gallery. The typography was a combination of handwritten typeface to hint at the scrappy inventor spirit at the beginning of the sport and the standard museum sans serif. It was placed on banners to echo graphics painted on mountain bike frames as well as graphic from racing events.
See the virtual walkthrough here.
My role: Title Graphics, Vinyl, Interpretive Signage, Activity Graphics
